You can't get distracted.
Connect pairs of identical tiles by selecting first one and then the other. However, not all tiles can be connected at any point in the game. Only those between which you can draw a polyline with right angles, with no more than three segments in it. In particular, you can connect a pair of tiles standing side by side vertically or horizontally.
