The cake hangs on top, but not just in one place, but moves back and forth. At the right moment, when this cake will pass over the basic design of the cake, you should reset it as accurately as possible. Accuracy in this case means that ideally, the cake should fall on the base so exactly that the right and left edges of the fallen one coincide with the lying one.

If you are not precise enough, then a piece equal to the shift difference between the cakes will fall off from the fallen piece, and the next piece will also be reduced. The higher your cake is and the more inaccuracies you make, the smaller the falling layers will become.
